When I Feel Far from God

There are days when I feel so close to God — when His presence feels near, my prayers flow easily, and my heart longs for more of Him. And then there are days when I feel distant, distracted, or even indifferent. Days when I question, wrestle, and wonder why He feels silent.
But I’m learning that being a Christian isn’t about constant perfection or unshakable strength. It’s about walking through the highs and lows with honesty and faith. It’s about showing up even when it’s hard — trusting that God is still near, even when I don’t feel Him.
Faith isn’t the absence of struggle; it’s the decision to keep seeking God in the middle of it. The journey of following Christ comes with both mountaintop moments and valley seasons — but in each, His grace remains the same.
So when I feel far from Him, I remind myself that distance doesn’t mean disconnection. God never moves away; sometimes He simply invites me to draw closer, to quiet my heart, and to remember that He’s always been right here.
Verse to hold on to:
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8
