Overcoming Insecurity

For most of my life, I’ve struggled with being insecure about my body — especially my stomach. It was the one area I always found myself picking apart whenever I looked in the mirror. I would compare myself to other women and wonder why I didn’t look like them.
Somewhere along the way, I started believing the lie that I had to look a certain way to be considered beautiful — because that’s what society tells us, right? That we need to have flat stomachs, flawless skin, and perfect curves. But the truth is… who cares what society says?
All shapes and sizes are beautiful.
We’re not all supposed to look the same — that’s what makes each of us unique. Why would you want to look like everyone else when you were created to be different? Being yourself is the most freeing and beautiful thing you can do.
I think so many women chase this idea of the “perfect” body, but here’s the reality: there’s no such thing. Perfection doesn’t exist. If we were all perfect, then there would be nothing that sets us apart — nothing that makes us special.
Learning to love my body didn’t happen overnight. It took time, prayer, and grace. I had to remind myself that God made me exactly the way I’m meant to be. My worth isn’t defined by a number on a scale or how flat my stomach looks in a mirror. It’s defined by who I am — and by the One who created me.
The truth is, God made each of us perfect in His image. He didn’t make a mistake when He made you or me. Every freckle, curve, and scar tells a story of His craftsmanship. When He looks at us, He doesn’t see flaws — He sees His creation, fearfully and wonderfully made.
So here I am, learning to embrace my body for what it is: mine. It’s carried me through life, through the ups and downs, and it deserves love — not criticism.
If you’re struggling with insecurity, just remember this: you were created with purpose, with love, and in the image of a perfect God. You don’t need to change to be worthy — you already are.
“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” — Psalm 139:14
