S.O.A.P Bible Study Outline

Here's a simple and effective SOAP Bible Study Outline to help you dive deeper into Scripture in a personal and meaningful way. The SOAP method stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer:

1. S – Scripture

Write out the Bible verse or passage you're studying. This helps you slow down and absorb the Word more intentionally.

  • Example: Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord...

2. O – Observation

What do you notice about the scripture? Who is speaking? Who is it written to? What stands out? Is there a repeated word or phrase?

  • Example: God is speaking directly about His intentional plans for our lives. It shows that His plan is one of hope, not harm.

3. A – Application

How can you apply this verse to your life today? Is God challenging you, encouraging you, correcting you, or guiding you?

  • Example: I’m reminded that even when I don’t see the full picture, God has a plan for me. I need to trust Him more and stop trying to control everything.

4. P – Prayer

Write a personal prayer based on what you learned. Ask God to help you live it out.

  • Example: Lord, thank You for having a plan for my life. Help me to trust in You fully and walk in the direction You’ve laid out for me, even when I’m uncertain.
