Jesus Didn't Come for the Perfect—He Came for the Sinner

Have you ever felt like you’ve messed up too much for God to love you? Like your past disqualifies you from His grace? Maybe you’ve heard the lie that you're "too far gone," that you're not good enough, clean enough, or Christian enough to be accepted by Jesus.
But here's the truth: Jesus didn’t come for the perfect—He came for the sinner.
In Mark 2:17, Jesus says,“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Let that sink in. Jesus wasn’t drawn to people who had it all together—He was drawn to the broken, the messy, the outcasts. He sat with tax collectors, prostitutes, and those society rejected. And guess what? He didn’t shame them—He loved them. He called them. He changed them.
You don’t have to clean yourself up before coming to God. That’s His job. He meets you exactly where you are and transforms you from the inside out. Grace doesn’t wait until you’re worthy—it covers you even when you feel unworthy.
The enemy wants you to believe your story is too dark, but Jesus came to shine light in dark places. Your mistakes don’t scare Him. Your struggles don’t surprise Him. Your sin doesn’t disqualify you—it’s the very reason He came.
So if you’re struggling today, wondering if God still loves you, know this: He never stopped. You’re not too far gone. You’re just the kind of person Jesus came for.
Reflection Questions:
What sins or mistakes have you been holding onto in shame?
Do you believe Jesus can redeem every part of your story?
How can you begin to walk in the freedom of grace today?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for loving me even when I feel unworthy. Thank You for coming not for the perfect, but for people like me—broken, messy, and in need of grace. Help me believe that You can redeem every part of my story. I choose to walk in the truth that I am not too far gone. In Your name, Amen.
